Hello, I'm Jamie. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over fifteen years of experience as a Psychotherapist and Wellness Coach.
In 2004, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Belize where I specialized in Gender Based Violence and advocacy for women and girls. This experience allowed me to gain invaluable perspective on the universal similarities that connect us as women across culture and circumstance.
I continued to pursue additional humanitarian work in South East Asia with the American Refugee Committee and have worked extensively with humanitarians, expats, aid-workers, survivors of trauma, women entrepreneurs and world travelers.
My area of concentration is working with women and men, to navigate the difficult terrain of emotional and interpersonal abuse.
The often painful and confusing residue of emotional neglect, betrayal or abandonment is a spiritual wound. The goal is to recognize patterns, overcome self-doubt and create a tangible plan for unleashing our truest potential (dharma). I believe that when one of us hurts, we all hurt. The true empowerment of each individual raises our collective consciousness and is exponentially valuable for ALL of us.
I use a person-centered, mindfulness approach in my practice and consider myself to be the co-pilot. My job is to hold up the map, offer professional insights, tips and resources, and provide a safe, structured space for you to work through the process and get where you want to be.
As each person is unique, our work together will be tailored to fit you as comfortably as possible.
In recent years, my own journey has lead my on a path of spiritual learning. I am a Hatha 200 RYT, Kundalini Yoga Teacher and an Ayurvedic Health Counselor.
In therapy, we are likely to utilize aspects of Eastern practices (yoga, meditation, breath-work) as well as Western modalities including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment-based Therapy, Positive Psychology and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Together, we will focus on the issue that you are seeking resolution too and set tangible goals for success.
I utilize a Wellness Framework. The Wellness model, allows us to explore the SIX aspects of Wellness (physical, social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and environmental). The focus is on setting up a solid foundation of self-love, self-care mindset and healthy routine. All change begins with a genuine belief in our own abilities. Once, you have mastered the art of self-love, the sky is truly the limit!
Remember that our relationship begins with a complimentary consultation to discuss what options are best for you. Looking forward to hearing from you!!
